HARRA Pre-Marathon PASTA PARTY - Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024: BCRR participated in a community-wide carbo-loading party organized by the Houston Area Road Runners Association (HARRA). This low-cost event welcomed all members of the Houston running community to come together before the Chevron Houston Marathon Weekend. The event was well attended by BCRR members. There were runners from many clubs as well as unaffiliated runners. A great opportunity for runner harmonization. Kudos to HARRA for organizing, but especially to all the BCRR members who volunteered for the event, particularly Susan Cita who single-handedly pulled all the food service together. This event would not have happened without BCRR volunteers!

John's Looong Run - Dec. 17, 2023: Our annual tradition a great success! The event begun by John Phillips well over 20 years ago for BCRR had a new twist this year. Due to the cancellation of the 30K, we partnered with HARRA and the Houston Striders open the run as a FREE supported long run to the entire Houston running community. Over 200 runners joined us to run the 20+mile course! Most Importantly, we had fun, made new friends and showcased what our great club has to offer! After the run, BCRR runners and their guests convened at Sue and Alan's house for a full breakfast with all the amenities.This party is truly one of the highlights of the year!
Holiday Lights Run - Dec. 13, 2023: Our annual run around River Oaks was a great success! In partnership with the Houston Area Road Runners Association (HARRA), we opened BCRR's annual run through the lights of River Oaks to the entire running community. See Map. We had well over 50 runners join us! A good number of the runners joined us after the run at Kenneally's Irish Pub where we filled the back room, enjoyed refreshments and food, played darts, and gave away gift cards and free race entries to Alex's 5k, Bayou City Classic (provided by HARRA) and Poppy's Run for Life (provided by Caryn Honig). Most Importantly, we had fun, made new friends and showcased what our great club has to offer!
Space City 10: Our friends at BARC served as host for the HARRA Fall Series event the Space City 10 Miler on Oct 8, at the University of Houston – Clear Lake Campus. The weather was great and so were our runners! Ron Morgan and Theresa Pearsall held a terrific post-race party at their home afterwards.
Party in the Park - Saturday, Aug 19, 2023 BCRR volunteers were at Memorial Park for the HARRA Party in the Park. The team enjoyed the music, refreshments, seeing all the other running clubs, and meeting LOTS of passersby. Learn more here.
Run. Yoga. Beer. Breakfast. - About 45 people joined the fun Saturday, July 29, 2023 for fun run and social at Benny Thunders in the Heights. Runs of 3, 5, and 7 miles, were followed by yoga, breakfast, and beer! Learn more HERE.
GLOBAL RUNNING DAY - The club celebrated Global Running Day Run & Alumni Night, Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Rice campus with a post-run event at Valhalla. Despite the rain, a good time was had by all. Details on Calendar.
AWARDS BANQUET - The BCRR Awards Banquet was Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at W Alabama Ice House. The club celebrated the running year with some great food, drinks, and fun! SEE SLIDE SHOW PRESENTATION HERE.
BOARD ELECTIONS - May 24, 2023 at W Alabama Ice House, the club elected a new board of directors. CONGRATULATIONS to the 2023-2024 board elect: Pres. Kathleen M., VP Steve H., Sec. David P., Treasurer Robert S., and At Large Members: Joel D., June H., and Anna H.
BCRR Alumni Night at Valhalla
We don't see some members very often, and we miss you! Come back and join us for refreshments at Valhalla on Rice campus the FIRST Wednesday evening of each month is "Alumni Night" at Valhalla! (See calendar for details.)
