BCRR INFORMATION
--It Begins--
- John's LOOOOOONG RUN - Sunday Dec. 29 - This legendary endurance test was started and managed by John Phillips and features a fabulous after party (usually at Sue Leone's/Alan Svoboda's home). The run, open to all BCRR members and guests, starts 6:30 a.m. The 21 mile single loop route (shown here) offers shorter options for those that don't need 21 miles. VOLUNTEERS ALWAYS WELCOME.
- Training Runs - BCRR's weekly runs provide great opportunities for training AND to meeting highly experienced runners.
- GRB Run – Sunday, January 12 - The final Sunday before the marathon, we will run the last 6 miles of the marathon (from Memorial Park to the GRB) and back for a total of 12 miles. This run is open to all Houston runners - so invite your friends! Usual start time of 6:30 AM at the Tennis Center.
- BEFORE the race starts, the club will meet inside GRB for last minute planning, group photo, and camaraderie. Look for us (some of us in purple or BCRR logos) gathering together sort of near the Legacy Runners' photo opt spot in GRB at... watch FaceBook for location and last second updates.
- DURING the race the club will host an aid station located near the 20-mile marker (approx Memorial at Woodway). The aid station will be a good place to drop off outerwear. Volunteers welcome here!!
- DURING the race BCRR members on the half marathon course (but NOT the full marathon course) will pass by the Museum of Fine Arts at approx 8.5 miles. Hope Seller is hosting a little hoopla station there and offered to collect any outwear cloths dropped off.
- DURING the race BCRR members on the full marathon course (but NOT the half course) will pass by Chuck and Cheryl's home near the mile-8 marker (approx Mandell st and Rice Blvd) and may drop off outerwear. This drop off spot is in addition to BCRR aid station at mile 20. For non-runners, this location is also a great place to hangout on the lawn and watch the race go by.
- AFTER the race we will all celebrate together at a private party hosted at Sue Leone and Alan Svoboda's place with their team of entertainment experts. Watch the weekly email for details. The party, starts at approx. 11:00 AM, and features a heated swimming pool (bring a towel), a large Jacuzzi, NFL games on multiple TVs, hot showers (bring your own towel), and a buffet of GREAT food. All this and an assortment of "liquid refreshments" for a door fee is $10 per person for BCRR members, and $15 per person for non-members/guests. See you there!
- AFTER the race share your story! Send a few sentences about your experience to [email protected] Send a picture for extra value!
