  • ​​Last December, our club lost one of its veteran members, Joe Conway. Joe passed away suddenly at the age of 50, leaving behind his wife Kelly and their sons Cassidy and Colin. Joe was a native of Ireland and an alumnus of McNeese State University, where he was a star runner. Joe was a long time resident of Houston, where he worked for the Houston Community College system and lived in Katy. He regularly made the long drive into town for Sunday morning runs with BCRR or Tuesday night track sessions at Rice. Even if you didn't run Joe's pace, he was gregarious and you probably knew him from conversations over morning coffee at Whole Foods or post-race beers. In tribute to Joe, a fast runner and a kind person, BCRR will be hosting a Joe Conway Memorial Track Meet at Rice University on Sunday, May 20 at 5 PM. We will run some of Joe's favorite races, including the 400, 800 and the mile. The entry fee will be a donation ($25 suggested) and will cover all the events you wish to enter. 100% of the proceeds will go to the college funds of Joe's sons. Stay tuned for more details, and we hope you can join us to celebrate the life of our friend Joe.

PARKING 
  • We will have free parking available in the gravel lot to the east of the stadium. The driveway is off of Main St. just south of John Freeman Blvd. We expect that this lot will hold all of our runners, but we encourage you to carpool or take alternative transportation if it's convenient! Paid parking is available elsewhere on the Rice campus.
