Whether you're a runner, or just a "good sport" we want to see you at one of our social events!
UPDATE: Since Houston area bars and restaurants are closed (virus concern) there will be no official IN PERSON social gatherings for the foreseeable future. We will resume the fun and games after health authorities give the "all clear."
Happy Hour Schedule
Sunday Funday at April Murphy's Studio
We celebrated the end of marathon training with a Sunday Funday, on Jan. 5 at April Murphy’s Art Studio (2020 Houston Marathon arist!). BCRR provide pizza, and visitors were invited to BYOB.
Christmas Lights Run - Each December we meet at the Rose Garden in River Oaks for a special 4 mile run around River Oaks enjoying the festively decorated houses! VIEW MAP HERE.
Mellow Monday Turns Scrabble Run
On Oct 7, the "Mellow Monday" run became a Scrabble game/run. Members of the club's Board of Directors scattered around the Memorial Park loop handing out Scrabble tiles as members passed. After the 3 mile loop they assemble the letters they collected into their best scoring word. Prizes were awarded and refreshments were enjoyed. See calendar for details.
The BCRR Awards Banquet, held at St. Arnold’s Brewery in May, is a wonderful night of fun, food, and friendship. The club recognized outstanding achievements, special volunteers, and selects new board members. If you missed it this year, read the BCRR Birdfeed blog to learn all about it.
BCRR Prom - For something a little different, the club held our first ever prom night. Everyone supported the theme “Dress Your Decade” by wearing the styles from their original prom back in the day. The dance party was held at the Modern B&B and featured a night full of throwback jams and fabulous dresses!
Ongoing Social Hours

Meeting at Whole Foods - Montrose

Apres Run ...Every Wednesday evening we meet at Rice University for Sprints and Spirits. The group meets at 6:15 pm (run leaves at 6:30 pm sharp!).The Bayou Run (6.6 miles) is the usual route but there are shortcuts and alternative routes as well. All levels are welcome. And the best part is the cheap beer at Valhalla , a delightfully casual and economical watering hole, afterwards. There is always a group that goes out for dinner as well. Come on out! It's a great way to break up the stressful work week.
