Space City 10K - The Space City 10 Miler was a big success! Several BCRR members earned medal on the scenic course around the UH Clear Lake area. Up next, the Houston Half!
Surfside Beach Bash - The beach adventure at Surfside Beach August 25 was a great success! BCRR members enjoyed a little fun in the sand to ease through the summer heat! BCRR provided drinks and a hot grill. Members brought the food. The shade tent was up, the waves were cool, and the fun was all around! (HERE. is where they partied.)
Dash N' Splash - On August 15, following the traditional Wednesday night run, the gang headed over to Andrew Young's home for hot dogs, beer, and pool time! The "Dash N' Splash" event is becoming a popular way to beat the heat this year
Party in the Park - HARRA's Party in the Park returned to Houston's Memorial Park August 18. The festivities provided an opportunity to check out the competition, enjoy some refreshments, and go for a run. BCRR volunteers set up the club tent near the tennis center and welcomed running enthusiasts all morning. Special shout out to our volunteers that get up early and work in tough conditions to make this event great.
Dash N' Splash - July 11th the usual crowd ran than swam in a "Dash N' Splash" pool party at home of Andrew and Tina in Rice Village. The pool, pizza and beer, made for great fun after a hot run. Stay tuned for the next summer celebration!
Mellow Monday Scrabble Run - On June 25 our "Mellow Monday" run turned into a Scrabble game/run. Participants running the Memorial Park loop collected Scrabble tiles from BCRR board members along the way and then used the letters to spell out words for top honors. Two dozen members joined the fun and celebrated with refreshments at the finish! Visit the Facebook page for pictures.

Joe Conway Memorial Track Meet - In tribute to his memory and his legacy, BCRR held a Joe Conway Memorial Track Meet at Rice University on Sunday, May 20. The event featured some of Joe's favorite races, and all proceeds (more than $4,700) will go to the college funds of Joe's sons. Learn more HERE.
The Bayou Bash Relay - The relay was held on a breezy, but HOT Saturday afternoon (May 12) and many runners were tested by the heat. The 4-person race teams ran loops in TC Jester Park and finishes with a big picnic! BCRR produced 18 teams! Congrats to all the runners and a BIG THANK YOU to all the volunteers! Learn More Here.
LP Run - Our friends at the Terlingua Track Club held "the oldest race in Houston," The LP Run. On April 28 where the runners did as many RPMs (laps) as they could 33 ½ minutes. Learn more here. This was part of the HARRA Spring Series.
Trolley Run 5K - The Bellaire Trolley Run was Saturday, April 14. The annual tradition featured a 1 mile kids race followed by the main event - a 5K running through the tree-lined streets of Bellaire. BCRR's own Frank Dougherty and Gloria Mahoney won their age groups. Other club luminaries also took home trolley prizes. Larry Lindeen, Matt Nicol, Theresa Pearsall, and Pablo Rivero, all raced to 2nd place finishes in their age groups; while Roger Boak, June Harris, and Kathryn Vidal, earned 3rd place titles in their age groups.
Texas' Oldest 10K Race Returns - The 41st running of the Bayou City Classic 10K, Texas' oldest 10K race, took place on Saturday, March 17 at city hall. Proceeds are donated to support the Houston Parks & Recreation Department. Finisher times shown HERE.
BCRR Family Picnic - On April 8 BCRR's annual spring family picnic returned. The festivities took place at the Presidential Palace! BCRR Board members worked the grill serving up burgers and hot dogs. Members brought side dishes and desserts. And everyone joined in the games.
No Church Parking Wednesday - For Wednesday (2/14) please remember there is NO PARKING at the church due to Ash Wednesday. The club will still meet on foot at the church, but please park in the Rice lot or use alternative transportation.
Did You Get Your Medal? - The 2018 Chevron Houston Marathon is now in the history books; and whether you personally collected a finisher's medal, or volunteered so that others could get theirs, this medal is a symbol of what can be accomplished with incredible effort, heroic determination, and friends like the BCRR.
Volunteers Rock CHM 2018 - BCRR volunteers are the BEST! Volunteers manned two aid stations along the 2018 Chevron Houston Marathon route providing a welcome sight for weary runners. Special thanks to Katie Decker and Susan Cita for leading this effort.

Joe Conway Happy Hour Update - In tribute to our friend, and long time BCRR member, Joe Conway, the club met up at The Harp (1625 Richmond Ave) to raise a glass at our neighborhood Irish Bar.
JOHN'S LOOONG RUN - Dozens of tough runners joined this grueling good time tradition on December 17. The start/finish line was Sue & Alan's home near Memorial Park. See run MAP here. The 21-mile loooong single loop route featured water/Gatorade every few miles, and options for shortcuts, and after the run a full breakfast. Special thanks to the team of volunteers that helped cook and manage the event! DETAILS HERE.
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS RUN - The annual Christmas lights run was this Wednesday 12/13. The festive jog started at the Rose Garden in River Oaks at 6:30 pm. Afterwards everyone headed to Kenneally’s Irish Pub for post run fun!
CHRISTMAS PARTY - The BCRR holiday soiree was Friday 12/8 at the Modern B&B. The festivities featured a catered meal from Chipolte, great drinks (including club fav French 75s), and great people! About 50 BCRR members joined the fun to show off their holiday spirit, ugly sweaters, and delicious baked goods. If you missed it, you have 12 months to regret it. :-)
Alex 5K - November 4, 2017, BCRR hosted the premier 5K event of the season - Alex's 5K Run/Walk. This race is always a professionally executed event with fun for the whole family, and this year was no different. A big Texas THANK YOU to everyone that made the event so much fun! BCRR Rocks It at Houston Half - October 30, 2017, BCRR members showed (once again) we know how to run! Several of the BCRR speedsters earned awards for their excellent times. In addition, some BCRR members served as volunteers for key roles at the race to help ensure a good time was had by all. Thank you to our volunteers, and congrats to all our runners!
BCRR Family Picnic a Success - October 8, 2017, BCRR members and their children got together for a family picnic. The family field day was held at Andrew Young’s home. BCRR Board members grilled burgers and hot dogs, while attendees enjoyed the great weather and fun games. Learn more here.
HARRA X-C Relay - The 2017 HARRA Cross Country Relay was Sept 23, at Stude Park. The 4-person (2 miles each) relay featured strong participation from local running clubs, and good-natured inter-club competition. BCRR Expands Social Media Reach - The club has long been know for the popular BCRR Facebook page, but now members have additional ways to stay in touch online. Thanks to volunteers Christina and Dan, the club is now active on INSTAGRAM and TWITTER. Check them out today!

We don't see some members very often, and we miss you! Come back and join us for refreshments at Valhalla on Rice campus the FIRST Wednesday evening of each month is "Alumni Night" at Valhalla! (See calendar for details.)
