Sam Pace for Member at Large (continued)

Leaving Austin and my beloved Longhorns (apologies to the Aggies out there) was challenging but I’ve come to feel very much at home in Houston. The friends I’ve made at BCRR have been a large part of “creating home” for me.

Attending my first Wednesday night run was nerve wracking, not knowing anyone, not knowing if I could even run 6 miles. From the beginning, I was made to feel welcome and included. I have learned countless lessons about running and living from this wonderful group, who have been such a support to me. Certainly, I would have never made it through my first marathon without the support of BCRR.

A position as Member At Large would offer me an opportunity to return some of the many kindnesses that I have been lucky enough to receive from the current membership. I have never served as an officer of BCRR, but have been influenced and impressed by the strong leadership of the current board members. I believe there is always room for growth and improvement. As a member of the Board I will put my efforts toward recruitment of new members through sharing our goals and the sense of inclusion, fun-loving atmosphere and support BCRR provides for runners at all levels.
