---- KIM KIMMEY ----

Name: Kim Kimmey

Birthday: 11/28/56

Years running at the time of profile(2001): I ran a lot in my younger days but only resumed running again last October.

Occupation: Managing Director for Hill and Knowlton International Public Relations.

How many miles a week do you run? 20 and building.

How did you come to join Bayou City?: I found out about BCRR through HARRA. I checked out the various web sites for the different running groups in Houston and decided that Bayou City sounded like the most fun and irreverant.

My proudest running accomplishment is: I ran a half marathon in Fort Worth back in the dark ages.

My favorite training run is: My favorite running trail is in a subdivision at Canyon Lake.

My favorite race is: I enjoyed the race in Shiner--Shiner Boch after the race, a homegrown parade, dinner with the gang, fireworks, football...what more could you ask for?

My best distance is: 13 miles (1987); 9 miles recently.

I run because: It makes it hard to worry about anything but breathing, plus it beats cleaning the house.

My philosophy for life is: Live hard. Laugh a lot. Play fair. Love large.

My next goal is: I have 3 goals for this year: run the Houston Marathon, complete the MS 150 and jump out of an airplane.

Favorite training food: Bananas.

When I'm running I think about: Depends--some days I'm planning out my action items for the week; othertimes, I'm working out a work-related or personal problem. On lucky days, I just have some favorite tunes running through my head.

The best running advice I could give would be: Make it fun for yourself--live up to your own expectations.

People would be surprised if they knew I: share ice cream with my dog.

The top thing on my dream list is: Working as a bar wench in Ireland.

If I could have been anything, besides my current occupation it would be: A blues singer.

Other hobbies besides running: Horseback riding, flag football, nagging, watching old movies, finding homes for stray animals.

I would love to spend the day with: My mother.

The most embarrasing thing that has happened to me is: Far too many to label any one as the "most" embarrasing but recently, I went dancing at the Big Easy. My partner put me into a wild spin and our hands let go and I went flying into another man's lap.

The most profound thing that has happened in my life is: The passing of my mom a few years ago.
