Birthday: ( 1-25-50 )
Years running at the time of profile(2000): 15
Occupation: Self employed contractor
How many miles a week do you run? 40-50
How did you come to join Bayou City?: I met John Lillibridge in Nov. of 1989 and he talked me into joining.
My proudest running accomplishment is: Doing a 39:35 in the Dome run in '96 or my 3:15 in the Austin Marathon.
My favorite training run is: A tie between the Sunday mornings thru River Oaks and the 4:30 group on Wed. at Rice.
My favorite race is: The Dome run or any race I beat Mick.
My best distance is: Distance is of no matter, temperature dictates how far I can run.
I run because: I love to eat. Running is the only diet that works for me and I have become co-dependant on the running community.
My philosophy for life is: Stop working for the almighty dollar, and make my life and those around me as pleasant and fun as possible.
My next goal is: I want to qualify for Boston one more time in the new millenium.
Favorite training food: Everyone that knows me would say anything you put on my plate. Unfortunately I can't argue this fact. But mexican once or twice a week helps.
When I'm running I think about: In Houston, it's I wish it were cooler. But in general it's how glad I am to be surrounded by friends.
The best running advice I could give would be: Set realistic goals and be thrilled as you reach them. And always remember less that 1% of the U.S. can accomplish what you have done.
People would be surprised if they knew I: That I really am a very shy person. I get stage fright when put in with a group of strangers.
The top thing on my dream list is: To fly in space. When I was a kid I built a space capsule an spent days at a time pretending I was in orbit.
If I could have been anything, besides my current occupation it would be: Other than astronaut, I would love to be playing pro football.
Other hobbies besides running: I love any fast sport,so I love to water ski and snow ski (with my fellow BCRRers of course--- point'm downhill and let it fly) And when I wish to be humbled I play golf.
I would love to spend the day with: The crew of the space station
The most embarrasing thing that has happened to me is: The list is too long to pick one as the most, but the one that taught me a lasting lesson was the time I was traveling across the country with my then girlfriend. We stopped by my aunt and uncles house in Salt Lake City planning to spend the night and visit some. They were not home but one of the kids was. We dropped off our bags and went out for a bite to eat. When we returned the house was locked with our bags on the front porch with a note saying "call firstand find a hotel".
The most profound thing that has happened in my life is: A lot has happened that changed my life but I would say being drafted into the army in 1970 had the biggest effect on my life.
