---- JOHN KOENIG ----

Name: John Koenig

Birthday: 2/25/1955

Years running at the time of profile(2000): Have been running since middle school, picked up the activity when I turned 38.

Occupation: Product Engineering Manager (Oilfield Service Company)

How many miles a week do you run? 20-30 miles

How did you come to join Bayou City?: A couple of BCRR guys at a running beer bust twisted my arm.

My proudest running accomplishment is: A 30K a few years back (6:57 pace)

My favorite training run is: The last two miles with BCRR on Wed. night or the first 4.5 miles with BCRR on Sunday morning.

My favorite race is: Ten-for-Texas

My best distance is: 15K or 10 miles

I run because: It relieves stress and allows me to eat and drink anything I want in large quantities.

My philosophy for life is: Time is more important than money, anyone can make money, I have yet to meet someone who can make time.

My next goal is: Lowering my Marathon PR, currently at 3:18:15.

The top thing on my dream list is: Retiring early

Other hobbies besides running: Saltwater Lure Fishing/Kayak Fishing

I would love to spend the day with: My Dad

Favorite food: Bar-B-Q, Mexican food, Pizza (in any order with a beer if required)

People would be surprised if they knew I: was a native Houstonian.

The most embarrassing thing that has happened to me is: Too many to list, though, they all humor me when I look back.

When I'm running I think about: How long can I hang at this pace!

The best running advice I could give would be: Pace yourself, don't go out too fast and burn up in the atmosphere.

The most profound thing that has happened in my life is: The arrival of my son, Reid.
