MAMMOTH LAKES ROAD TRIP:

From Trip Organizer
Bob Brown :

4-5-08- I would like to get a commitment for lodging at Mammoth so I could make a deposit on lodging. Let me know what you think of the place recommended below:
.

A summer road trip to Mammoth Lakes, CA, which is near Yosemite and perhaps, more importantly, is where Olympic long distance runners Deana Kastor and Ryan Hall live and train, is being planned.  Here are the details:

Leave Houston- either late Tuesday, July 29th or early Wednesday July 30th (there is a 9PM flight to Reno)

Return to Houston , Sunday, August 3rd.

Activities include: running, hiking, day trip to Yosemite , paddling, etc.  This is the weekend of the Mammoth Beer and Blues Festival (http://www.mammothbluesbrewsfest.com/) that should be a fun addition to the weekend.  Mammoth is a ski town and summer is considered off-season.  Estimated cost:  Airfare ($350), Lodging ($70/day), Transportation ($20/day) plus food and drink.

One place that was recommended to me is the link below:

Details from the reservation agent:

We do have several options available that may suit your needs; one recommendation I can make is our Snowflower complex. Snowflower is composed of all two-bedroom loft units with three bathrooms. They can sleep between eight and ten, so depending on your group you may want to consider renting two units.  You can check our web site www.MammothLakes.com to view the complex and the units available there. The rates for your dates are between $190 and $210 plus tax a night depending on whether you would like a standard, above standard or upgraded unit. We do have a summer special where you can stay for seven nights, pay for five. The special on these units would be between $950 and $1050 plus tax for the week. Please let me know if I can assist you with any other questions.

This would probably be a good option because we can add another condo if we get more interest.  I would like some commitments. Roundtrip flights are $360.  Also, note that if anyone is interested in staying a full week, we can get two nights free.  I might be interested in staying longer.
