RUNNING ROUTES

Find a running route or map your own! Using technology provided by Google Maps,
USATF Running Routes , Gmap-pedometer, Map My Run, or  Runstoppable will map and measure your favorite running routes and then save them to a searchable database. You can also locate new runs here, there and everywhere.

BCRR Running Routes: The Bayou Run  (6.6 miles) is the usual BCRR  route taken on Wednesday evening. There are shortcuts and alternative routes as well. The Sunday BCRR Long Run  from Memorial Park is 10-12 miles.

Austin Marathon This marathon is one of our favorites. It used to be a fast course that produced a lot of prs.

Houston Marathon Hey, what can we say, it's our home-town marathon. It's usually warm, but there is always great crowd support.

Boston Marathon     You haven't lived until you've experienced the thrill of running Boston.

Lake Tahoe Marathon   Expect altitude and hills but you can also expect breathtaking vistas to take your mind off of it.

The Athlete's Diary is a multisport computer log, available for Windows, Macintosh, and the Palm Computing Platform. You can log your training, view it in a variety of formats, and analyze it to your heart's content. You can also use the software to plan your future training.

Visit PC Coach... demos of the world's best training software as well as informative articles and workouts from some of the world's best athletes for use with PC Coach. They need a web designer but there's some good info on this site.

RUNNING CLUBS (local)

Al Lawrence Running Club This area club hosts two HARRA Spring Series Races: The Bayou Bash Road Relay and the Bellaire Trolley Run 5K.  Approximate membership 140.

Bayou City Road Runners (BCRR) That's us! We have the perfect blend of competitive running and social events. Our emphasis is on having fun as well as fitness and competition. We have approximately 370 members.

Bay Area Running Club (BARC) This club's primary location is the Clear Lake area. They put on the first race in the HARRA Fall Series- the United Space Alliance 10 miler. Their approximate membership is 235.

Finish Line Sports Running Club This club's primary location is the Sugarland area. They put on the 30k (HARRA marathon warm up series). Their approximate membership is 130.

Houston Area Road Runners Association (HARRA) Click here for the latest news and events schedule from HARRA. This club is the umbrella club to all the Houston running clubs.

Houston Masters Sports Association welcomes not only the masters runner, but adult athletes of all ages who enjoy being involved in the organization of the sport or socializing with other athletes of any caliber. This club puts on the 25K (HARRA warm-up series)

Houston Striders This club puts on the Houston Half Marathon (HARRA marathon warm-up series)

Pearland Area Road Runners  (PARC) One of the newer clubs in the greater Houston area.  

Terlingua Running Club This club puts on the LP run (HARRA Spring series). Their emphasis is mainly on racing rather than social events.

Tornados Running Club This club's philosophy is "To enjoy running for its fitness and social opportunities". They host the HARRA Cross Country Relay  (HARRA fall series).

HARRA News

Check out
Run Houston, a reader blog about running on Houston Chronicle online from Jon Walk and Ed Quarles. Local and regional races, results and runners are chronicled on this site, a welcome addition to the running community.

Houston Running  is Jon Walk's personal running blog- a great place to find running news and various and sundry running statistics (and other things that make you go hmmm...), like who holds the record for running the most consecutive HARRA races or who ran the top 20 times in the Kingwood Marathon, interspersed with Jon's reflections on running.


RUNNING FUEL

Looking for the best Houston Home Brew? Visit Saint Arnold's Web Site or come to their Saturday afternoon beer-tasting. The tour starts at 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays. After doing the tour you will receive tickets for free tastings.

Valhalla is a non-profit, graduate student pub located under Keck Hall on the Rice University Campus, known for its eclectic clientele and cheap drinks. BCRR is a non-profit running club, known for its eclectic and cheap members. Sounds like a marriage made in heaven, which is why we meet there after running on Wednesday evening!  In addition, the Houston Press rated Valhalla the "Best Place to Meet Single Women." .
